Athens is 385 miles and 6 1/2 hours (according to Fred's Garmin GPS) from Durham.  Anyone planning to attend will want to leave early on Wednesday and they'll be getting back late Sunday.  Again Steve Ross will be leading this group of riders.


Finally, what GlideFest consists of is group day rides on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  Since Fred Porter is the host again this year, he will lead the day rides.  Typically, the day rides leave the motel around 9 am and return around 4 pm, with stops for breaks lunch, gas, etc. about every 50 - 60 miles.  Each day ride is usually about 200 to 240 miles in length.  We are not long-distance endurance riders but prefer leisurely rides through the countryside with frequent stops to relax and gossip. 
We usually eat dinner together at a restaurant at the end of the day and then evenings are spent sitting around enjoying a beer or two, telling tall tales (all true, of course), and renewing old friendships.

Fred is trailering his bike to Ohio and is willing to carry luggage to and from Athens for anyone in the HOG chapter.  Plan on contacting him if this is something you need.
